Franz Welser-Möst, a world-class conductor. He leads one of the most famous orchestras in England, he was General Music Director at the Vienna State Opera and now he enthuses about the Tonhalle Maag: “The Maag Halle is a godsend. After two days, I am already on fire for the hall.”
At the start of the season in September 2017, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra moved to the Tonhalle Maag in Zurich West for three years. With the help of the electronic room acoustics system VIVACE, the acousticians from Müller-BBM have integrated a concert hall into the previous event hall.
During the three-year restoration of the venerable Tonhalle, the new concert hall in an old industrial hall can be used as an alternative venue for classical concerts of all kinds. Mr. Welser-Möst is thrilled with the “what was put down there” and would wish that the hall will not be “rolled flat” after three years.
