Bregenz Festival 2021 - Verdi on the Floating Stage

30.08.2021

A big sigh of relief – as of 01 July, major events in Austria are allowed again almost without restrictions with full occupancy of the seats. This was great news for the 75th Bregenz Festival which could start as planned from 22 July.

Last year the festival had to be cancelled for the first time since it began due to Corona, and this year the joy was even greater. This year, Verdi’s opera “Rigoletto” could once again be seen on the largest floating stage in the world. The opera performance already attracted almost 200,000 spectators in 2019. Above all, the “Rigoletto” stage set on the floating stage is a huge attraction. With its weight of about 140 tons and 120 stakes on which it stands, it is also a real eye-catcher beyond the performances and has attracted many interested and curious people.

To ensure an impressive sound on the 7,000 seats of the floating stage, the BOA 2.0 sound system has been used since 2019. An essential part of the system is our electronic room acoustic system VIVACE, which, like the Kling & Freitag loudspeakers used, convinced those responsible in a very intensive selection process at the time. In order to make the spatial sound experience even more intense, another 270 newly developed K&F loudspeakers (“LINUS”) were installed under 30 rows of seats in the centre of the visitors’ area this year. Thanks to these fantastic BOA 2.0 technologies, unique and intimate sonic moments are created, making every event visit an unforgettable experience.
