Tolga Municipality is a small municipality with about 1,600 inhabitants and is located in the north of Innlandet Province. In the heart of Tolga, there was a community centre, which had been a popular meeting point for generations. Since this has been very outdated, the municipality decided to demolish the centre and build the new “Tolga kulturhus-Vidarheim”. In the recent past of the municipality there is no comparable large construction project.
The cultural centre
In the basement of the cultural centre, facing the façade, there are offices and practice rooms for the cultural school and the “Black Box” – a small cultural hall for theatre and dance, conferences or concerts.
VIVACE in the cultural hall
The cultural hall in shape of an amphitheatre has 170 seats, that can be pulled out of a wall. In front of the amphitheatre, there is space for three seat rows, so that the hall offers a total capacity of 223 seats. In order to optimize the acoustics, the hall was equipped with our VIVACE room acoustic system. With VIVACE the experienced reverberation time of the room can be adjusted to the requirements and preferences of the event organisers. Thus, concerts as well as seminars and other events can take place with optimal acoustic conditions. Already the natural acoustics of the hall were created by experts with absorbers, reflectors and suitably aligned interiors walls.
“It will be like day and night, compared to the community centre, that we had before. Previously, we had a cultural hall with a hall and a stage. We had to rent equipment for sound and light for the performances. Now we have a basic package with sound and light, which works well in the new cultural hall”, says Jon Arve Urseth Engebakken, the project manager.
In the future, the room will be used daily by local orchestras, choirs, schools and the village’s cultural offerings. The VIVACE user interface is therefore designed so simply that anyone can operate and prepare the system via a touch panel.
