A press release by the German Cultural Council makes it clear: the need is great and the pressure to act is high. Aid from the Federal Government, the countries and the cultural scene itself has arrived – but that does not solve the problem. At the beginning of June, the coalition presented a programme to strengthen the cultural infrastructure, in which a billion euros in funding are planned. The funds are designated for strengthening the cultural infrastructure, emergency aid, additional needs of cultural institutions and cultural projects.
Klassik am Odeonsplatz
“Klassik am Odeonsplatz” is considered Munich’s most beautiful open-air concert hall and stands for music of the highest standard in a unique atmosphere. Since its foundation in 2000, the Munich Philharmonic and the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Broadcasting have performed there together with internationally renowned soloists and star conductors.
Unfortunately, this year’s scheduled concerts on July 10 and 11 had to be cancelled due to the corona-related ban on events. The Classic Open-Air would have celebrated its 20th anniversary this year. Since 2010 VIVACE is used and contributes to the unique pleasurable listening at the Odeonsplatz. Now we are looking forward to the already fixed alternative dates in July 2021.
The Bregenz Festival is the cultural experience at Lake Constance. Every summer, in the midst of an enchanting scenic backdrop in the province of Vorarlberg, the festival presents a top-class, internationally acclaimed open-air opera production on a monumental stage in Lake Constance.
Despite all hope, the festival had to be cancelled for the season 2020. The decision is based on the current situation of the Corona pandemic and the corresponding regulations of the Austrian federal government. Rigoletto has been postponed until summer 2021 and will then be shown on the lake stage on 26 evenings. At last year’s premiere event of the crowd favourite Rigoletto, the new sound system BOA 2.0 (Bregenz Open Acoustics) was used for the first time. VIVACE is an essential part of the renewed system and provides an impressive and gripping surround sound on the 7,000 seats of the lake stage. We are already looking forward to the spectacular and touching production next year.
“Young artists in concert” – that is what the Davos Festival stands for. We are very happy that this year’s Davos Festival is to take place despite the worldwide pandemic. True to the motto “young artists in concert”, highly talented young musicians are invited to Davos for two weeks and play in changing chamber music formations. The familiar atmosphere with young artists from all over the world and an international as well as local audience and an impressive scenic setting create a unique festival ambience.
The top-class concerts are planned in the hotel hall of the Schweizerhof. In order to meet the Davos Festival’s high demands for excellent sound quality and to create an acoustically lively and captivating atmosphere for the planned concerts, the existing acoustics will be expanded to a natural concert hall sound with the help of our electronic room acoustic system VIVACE.
A look into the future
The far-reaching shutdown of public cultural life in the recent months is a deep cut for all involved and we are concerned about the consequences, especially for freelance artists. On the other hand, it is great to see the commitment and inventiveness to keep art and culture alive despite the restrictions. We are very pleased to be able to make our contribution to this and, as always, are available with innovative solutions for very special requirements.
At the same time, we hope that the further help to financially secure the cultural sector will take effect and wish all contributors, freelance artists, performers and musicians the best!
